Earlier tonight, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect and Halifax Mooseheads player Jonathan Drouin took a shot to the head from fellow Lightning prospect, Adam Erne. Drouin went to retrieve the puck and was hit from behind by Erne, sending the WJC Canadian player down the tunnel for the remainder of the game. Although he plays for Team Canada, true hockey fans never want to see talented players like Drouin miss out on tournaments like the WJC. Hopefully he'll be back in time for the tournament just like we're hoping Stamkos will be back in time for the Olympics. Keep your fingers crossed, hockey fans!

Young Rutherford B. Hayes Was the Hottest President Ever
Looks like JFK's got some competition in the best-looking president category. Young Rutherford B. Hayes was actually really hot. By the time he was president, he had grown out a beard and aged A LOT. But when he was young, he was gorgeous.
Tell me he doesn't look like Drew Brees...November 23, 2013
How Stupid is the Tampa Bay Lightning Front Office?
On June 30, 2013 with the 3rd overall pick, the Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Jonathan Drouin of the Halifax Mooseheads. Drouin's fellow Moosehead and best buddy, Nathan MacKinnon, went first in the draft to the Colorado Avalanche. The first surprise came when the Florida Panthers took Aleksander Barkov over Drouin with the 2nd pick. Although both great players, I believed that Drouin had the edge over Barkov and figured that if the Panthers did not take Seth Jones, they would use their pick on Drouin.
Drouin attended the Lightning's training camp as expected, but the second shocker came when the Lightning decided to send him back to his QMJHL team. Players just drafted can't go to the AHL and if sent back to their junior team, cannot be called back to the NHL until the following season.
Now the biggest shocker of all... Jonathan Drouin has 44 points in just 18 games. That's an average of 2.44 points per game. And the QMJHL is no joke. Each year, some of the best draftees come out of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Now dealing with an injured Steven Stamkos, the Lightning front office must be absolutely kicking themselves for passing over Jonathan Drouin who is busy tearing up his junior league. Hopefully the Lightning will take into account how Drouin has utilized this season and we'll get to see him in the big leagues next year where he deserves to be.

Jonny Gomes is so Country
I feel like Jonny Gomes should've been born in the south. The guy's from California but could roll with Napoli and his redneck buddies any day of the week. He'd fit right in with Peavy and his duck boat out in Alabama. I guess it doesn't really matter where you're from, you can still be country as hell. Brantley Gilbert certainly said it best "It ain't where, it's how you live"

Sexy or Not?
So at work, I was arguing with one of my co-workers (hopefully my future boyfriend) and then brought the argument home to my father, both of whom denied it, but I believe with all my heart that this man is sexy. Not Gosling/Tatum/Efron sexy, but there is definitely a 100% chance that, given the opportunity, I would have sex with this man, no questions asked. So I need a general consensus, is Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers sexy? Comment yay or nay.
P.S. We both (me and my future BF) agree that Drew Brees is incredibly sexy as well. Proof? I gotcha.

Gabriel Landeskog's Passport Photo Defies All Logic
So a little over a month ago I blogged about how bad license pictures are and included Taylor Hall's license picture as an example. I didn't mention it at the time but passport photos are totally included in that. They just don't look good. Gross as hell. And yet here Gabriel Landeskog is defying all logic and looking amazing in his passport photo. Glad he's smartened up and got a haircut since it was taken, but he was still hot. Kinda like a sixth member of One Direction type of deal. So, props to baby Gabe for being beautiful against all odds.

If You're an NHL Player, Your Fine Could End in 68¢
Whoever decided to add that 68¢ is the worst person on the face of the earth. I'm curious as to how they get that money from Ryan Murphy. Does he write a check? Do they just deduct from his paycheck and get it from the team? Does he use a debit card? Or is cash an option? Cause I would totally pay with rolls of pennies so NHL Player Safety would think twice before including that 68¢ next time.

I Already Like Post-Championship Napoli Better Than Post-Championship Marchand and Seguin
So it's a few days removed from the Sox's World Series victory but the partying is far from over. In fact, it's just begun. Mike Napoli (could be Zac Brown but pretty sure it's Napoli) is walking around Boston drunk and shirtless. People are all over twitter talking about him pouring shots for fans and drinking his face off.
I'm already a bigger fan of post-championship Napoli than post-championship Seguin and Marchand. Don't know what it is. Can't even really tell you why. I just think him wandering the streets of Boston drunk, shirtless, and fully bearded at 32 years old puts him on another level than these two. I have a feeling Gomes and Napoli are going to make the Marchand/Seguin tandem's championship partying look like amateur hour very quickly.
World Series Champs
I don't even know what to say right now. I put off posting this for a couple of days cause there's really not much to say other than it's unbelievable. One thing I do have to say, though, is that I HATE how the local media has responded to
it. The discussion on 98.5 the day after the Sox won was all about how they're not going to be as good next year followed by argument over whether this group should be kept together or not. People can't just enjoy the win and say thank you. That is telling of how many championships are won in Boston, though. The day after one is won people are already looking for the next. Our athletes and sports teams are held to a high standard and it's great but sometimes it takes away from the win when the fans and media react that way.
Anyway, the rolling rally is tomorrow and I absolutely can't wait. The speech Obama made is especially eerie now after this win. He said something about the Duck Boats rolling down Boylston St. again and now here it is.

Best Halloween Costume Award Goes To....
Andrew Ference... That is if he's going for Beowulf and his daughter is Grendel. Genious. Such an Andrew Ference costume. He's definitely the smartest guy in the NHL. Most players went as movie characters or cartoon people, but not Andy Ference. He went as a hero from a piece of Viking literature.

I can't tell if this is romantic or psychotic..
This man, Neil McArdle of Liverpool, England, was sentenced today with 12 months in jail for calling his wedding venue on the day of his wedding and warning them of a bomb about to go off, when in reality he just forgot to book the venue. Pyschotic, right? But he went through all of this trouble because he didn't have the heart to tell his bride that he forgot. Insert 'aw's here. His bride showed up to the venue to see cops swarming the place searching for bombs, oblivious to what her groom did. I'll give the guy props for not wanting to let his lady down, but there are at least 14 better ways to handle the situation other than a bomb threat. Wouldn't resort to measures that drastic, especially considering this was just days after the Boston Marathon Bombings. McArdle's defense attorney says that the couple is still together, and I can't say I blame her. He's clearly dedicated to that relationship, and if they can survive a bomb threat AND 12 months of prison, there isn't anything that marriage can't handle.

And The Sox Are World Series Bound
And the Red Sox are headed to the World Series for the 3rd time in 9 years. Words can't even begin to describe how much I love this team. They just simply refuse to stop. As much as I can't stand Larry Lucchino, "scrappy underdogs" was dead on.
Also, big congrats to Koji Uehara for winning ALCS MVP. Well deserved. Every time he took the mound it was lights out. Who knew what an unbelievable closer he would turn out to be? This team has been full of surprises. Absolutely can't wait for the World Series. If the Cardinals aren't scared yet, they should be.

Can we just talk about the Avs for a second?
So the whole NHL is gone to hell this season I guess. everything is backwards. The Avs are undefeated, Brad Marchand is struggling to put up points, and the LEAFS are first in the division?! how the hell did that happen!? I think the hockey gods have seriously betrayed the North East portion of the NHL. minus the Leafs. but I'm truly happy for the Avs. after years of being a shit team, they're starting to amount to something. thanks to these sex pots.

Does that Honda commercial bother anyone else?
I wouldn't identify myself as a history buff by any stretch, but the Honda commercial that says that 'New England is surrounded in history' really gets to me. Yes it's true, we have history flowing out our asses. But Christopher Columbus NEVER STEPPED FOOT ON AMERICAN SOIL. Am I the only one who notices this stupidity? Columbus landed on Haiti and the DR. He never touched the US of A, let alone New England. Shit like that irks me. Idiots.
Comeback City
Yesterday was by far one of the most insane Boston sports days since I've been alive. It started off with Tom Brady throwing a TD pass to Kenbrell Thompkins with 6 seconds left in the game, down by 4 to give the Pats the win and it ended with the Red Sox pulling off an incredible comeback with a Big Papi Grand Slam in the eigth and a Saltalamacchia Walk Off in the 9th.
Both unbelievable accomplishments, both amazing on their own, and the happened on the same day. It really proves that it's not over till it's over. From those two games yesterday and the Bruins Game 7 vs. Toronto, this town is starting to look like a bit of a Comeback City.

See Ya in the ALCS
Tonight the Red Sox beat the Rays 3-1 taking the series 3 games to 1. They'll face either the Tigers or the A's in the ALCS. That series is going to five games so we'll have to wait to find out who their next victim is.
Just like when they clinched the best record in the AL, celebration is ensuing. Jonny Gomes has got the helmet on, Mike Napoli is shirtless, Papi is being Papi. They're just having a good time all around, but if I were the A's or the Tigers I'd be pretty terrified right now.

And I Thought My License Picture Was Bad
No one's license picture is actually good. I'm pretty sure it's science. It just never comes out good. But Taylor Hall's takes the cake for bad license pictures. He looks like he's high out of his mind/really scared. And since I feel really bad for posting such an unattractive picture of him, I will counter it with some good pictures of him.
Cute Puppy Monday
My Country Top 5

2. Up All Night- Jon Pardi
3. Friday Night- Eric Paslay
4. We Were Us- Keith Urban/Miranda Lambert

Recap: October 3
Opening night at TD Garden is something I need to experience. It doesn't get much better than 20 of my favorite people (that I've never met) slamming people into boards while thousands of people in sweaty jerseys get drunk off cheap beer and scream their heads off. That's my kind of place. But watching it from the comfort of my home is almost as good. I get to sit with my dogs, I don't have to wait in massive lines to pee, and whatever I want to eat or drink is right there. But experiencing the Garden is so much better than watching it on TV. In case you missed it,
Chris Kelly opens scoring up in the first period on a penalty shot. Not going to lie, I thought he lost it. Then there's a little bit of back and forth, resulting in both an Iggy and a Thorty fight. Way win over the hearts of Bruins fan Iggy. It worked for me. Pittsburgh who? Shove it up your ass Crosby, he belongs to Boston now.

Just In Case..
So Bruins season starts tonight, and in case you're a fan but have been living under a rock all summer, here's what you missed:
We got this superstar:
in exchange for this.. ehh player (or at least the past few years, get off my back)
We also signed these two beasts:
for eight more years. Our team looks better on paper than it did last year, and many projections show us taking the East, and some say the Cup (knock on wood). Let's hope so.
